Ethiopia-Kenya HVDC Interconnector
Wolayta-Sodo → Suswa

The region’s first 500kV direct-current line - Tag supplied the full quad-bundle fitting set on the L&T built Kenyan section.
A 500kv direct-current line carries no margin for hardware that flexes, arc, or fatigues. Every fitting on it has to behave the same on day one and in year forty.
The Ethiopia-Kenya interconnection links two national grids across long, exposed spans and a wide swing of altitude and climate. On a quad-bundle HVDC line, the accessories do more than hand the conductor: spacers hold sub-conductor geometry against winds and short-circuit forces, dampers absorb aeolian vibration before it cracks strands, and every hardware interface has to shed heat and suppress corona at continuous high potential.
For the EPC, L&T, that meant a supplier who could deliver the full fitting set to one design language, prove each item against international standards, and hold tolerances across a large multi-lot order without drift between batches.
