Powering Line Fittings

Since 1972

Pioneers in the field of design, manufacture and testing of Transmission Line Hardware Fittings and Accessories for Conventional conductors, HTLS Conductors and Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) from 66kV – 1200kV

In 1972 we started with a simple belief:

Transmission hardware should be engineered to perform without compromise.
More than five decades later. That philosophy continues to shape:
Every Product Every Partnership Every Project
Today,
TAG manufactures and tests complete transmission line fittings and accessories

Our Story

Every Milestone, Built In-House

In 1972, India was expanding its transmission network — and the hardware holding those lines together had to be as dependable as the grid was ambitious. TAG began that year in a 2,000-square-foot shed, where five employees manufactured fittings for the country’s 110 kV lines.

From the start, R.T. Chari and R.V. Gopalan chose to build rather than buy. An in-house tool room and aluminium casting unit laid the foundation for what would become a fully integrated operation — and that instinct held for fifty years. Rather than outsource what mattered most, TAG brought each critical capability under one roof: forging, aluminium welding, extrusion, galvanizing, helical rod manufacturing, rubber compounding, and an NABL-accredited laboratory — so that quality could be proven in-house, not taken on faith.

Today TAG manufactures across more than 500,000 square feet in Chennai, employs 750 people, and supplies hardware for transmission lines up to 1,200 kV in more than 30 countries across five continents.

The scale has changed; the principles have not. Integrity, innovation, and responsibility — the values Chari and Gopalan built the company on — still guide it. They believed business could be a force for good, creating lasting value not only for customers and stakeholders, but for employees, communities, and society.

Sustainability

Engineering responsibly.

Reliable transmission begins with responsible manufacturing.
TAG is committed to reducing environmental impact through energy-efficient operations, responsible sourcing and continuous improvement.

Net 0 by 2030
Half of this goal has already been achieved through operational efficiency and energy optimisation initiatives.

Renewable Energy
Renewable Energy

TAG has installed a 750 kW rooftop solar power plant, meeting a meaningful share of our electricity needs through renewable energy and reducing dependence on grid power and associated carbon emissions.

Optimized Operations
Optimized Operations

We are continously improving efficiency across our end-to-end manufacturing operations, reducing energy use, minimizing material waste, and lowering emissions wherever practical without compromising quality or performance.

Responsible Sourcing
Responsible Sourcing

We prioritize reliable suppliers, high-quality materials, and responsible business practices, strengthening supply-chain accountability while protecting the performance and integrity of every TAG product.

Power does not end at the grid.

Power is meant to be shared

For TAG Corporation, social responsibility extends beyond business. We believe sustainable progress comes from access to better education, quality healthcare and a living connection to cultural heritage.  All of TAG Corporation's CSR initiatives are carried out through Ramu Endowments, established in memory of Mr. R Ramabhadran, father of TAG's two founders. Ramu Endowments is 100% funded and supported by TAG Corporation.

Education & Institutions
Education & Institutions

TAG helps students reach their potential by expanding access to education and opportunity. Our approach centres on lasting impact rather than one-time assistance

Computer Labs

TAG has established fully equipped computer laboratories in schools that would otherwise have limited access to digital education — giving students hands-on exposure to technology and preparing them for an increasingly connected world. Labs have been set up at five schools since 2002

School Auditoriums

A well-rounded education extends beyond academics. TAG has funded eco-friendly, sound/air-conditioned auditoriums in 14 schools and institutions — dedicated spaces for assemblies, debates, cultural programmes and other activities that build confident, well-rounded individuals.

Scholarships

Since 2015 TAG supports deserving students from underprivileged families through school and undergraduate studies — covering fees and a monthly stipend so financial hardship never limits their ambitions.

Healthcare & Social Welfare
Healthcare & Social Welfare

TAG partners with healthcare institutions to make specialised medical care more accessible for underprivileged communities, focused on building long-term capacity that serves patients for years to come.

Centre for Diabetes Research and Care

TAG partnered with Voluntary Health Services (VHS), Chennai, to support the establishment of a dedicated Centre for Diabetes Research and Care in 2011 — providing specialised diagnosis, treatment, patient education and long-term disease management for underprivileged patients. This builds on TAG's earlier support for the Ramabhadran Juvenile Diabetic Centre at VHS, established in 1985.

Glaucoma Care Centre

TAG partnered with Voluntary Health Services (VHS), Chennai, to support the establishment of a dedicated Glaucoma Retina Centre, funding specialised equipment and infrastructure so underprivileged patients can access advanced treatment free of cost or at highly subsidised rates.

Supporting Medical Trusts

Beyond the centres it has established, TAG provides ongoing annual support to five medical trusts, helping extend specialised care to underprivileged patients each year.

Arts & Culture
Arts & Culture

Culture connects generations and gives communities a sense of continuity. For over three decades, TAG has supported initiatives that keep India's artistic and cultural traditions alive and accessible to younger generations.

Promoting Classical Indian Music in Schools

For over 10 years, TAG has run Raga Identification Competitions — in association with esteemed institutions — introducing students and seasoned rasikas to Indian classical music. TAG has conducted a music competition for school children, awarding three Gold Medals each year. A number of winners have since gone on to become well-known Carnatic musicians, including B. Shankari, S. Saketharaman and Amritha Murali.

Southern Heritage Lecture Series

Since 2002, TAG has supported and organised over 350 of the longest-running lecture series dedicated to Southern India's heritage, typically held on the last Sunday morning of the month with breakfast — bringing together scholars, artists and historians to explore the traditions of the five southern states of India.

Digital Listening & Viewing Archives

Over 30 years, Mr R T Chari personally collected 6,000 hours of live concert recordings. Together with other available material, this formed the basis of the TAG Digital Listening/Viewing Archives, established at 15 institutions across India, Sri Lanka, the UK and Singapore between 2008 and 2016, including the Madras Music Academy (2008), University of Madras (2012), Kalakshetra Foundation (2014) and Liverpool Hope University, UK (2014).
